Carved from a solid vertically oriented block of marble, this sculpture features sumptuously curved forms, resting on the base with a winding element curled in on itself, then emerging upwards in a serpentine curve that loops around and crosses in front to achieve a larger oblong open loop in the upper portion of the piece. Beautifully angled and carefully balanced to create a cohesive shape and maintain visual movement throughout, this sculpture is a brilliant example of the abstracted geometry and stunning use of material characteristic of Mid-Century Modernist design.
