Dimensions: 32.5 x 25 cm (12.8 x 9.8 inches)
Year: 2003
Entitled “The Hen”, this unique watercolor etching (“Watercolor TP”) depicts two chickens. This test was carried out to prepare and give color indications to the printer of the print La Poule (part of the twelve works of the Necessary Bestiary). Chickens are one of the artist's favorite subjects.

with his wife Claude, François Xavier Lalanne (1908-2008) is the most famous French sculptor of the second half of the 20th century. His work is characterized by animal imagery. He studied art at the Académie Julian in Paris. Upon his arrival in the city, he was introduced to many surrealist and modernist figures, such as Man Ray, Max Ernst, Marcel Duchamp, Niki de Saint Phalle, Jean Tinguely and Constantin Brancusi. It is particularly known for its sheep, ducks, birds and chickens. This piece has an attribution mark,
