1950's American of Martinsville walnut & cane storage units. Everything original & in excellent condition.

Both are of the finest … Read more 1950's American of Martinsville walnut & cane storage units. Everything original & in excellent condition.

Both are of the finest solid walnut construction. At the top of each unit are cupboard compartments with magnetized door fronts covered in woven cane & black metal door pulls. Removable walnut shelf on each unit is adjustable to three different heights and slides in on solid copper inserts. Backing on each unit is a textured beige laminate board.

One storage unit has four sizable drawers. Top drawer bears the marking "American of Martinsville" with company eagle logo inside. All with original black metal pulls. The other unit has shelving storage compartments inside with magnetized walnut door fronts & black metal door pulls.

American of Martinsville had several different designers: Merton Gershun, Albert Parvin, Paul Laszlo, & even George Nakashima. Not 100% sure who or a collaboration of whom designed this at the time. There are similar later variations seen of these units from Founders furniture company by Jack Cartwright but not of this quality. See less
