The wooded landscape with cows is signed in the lower left and dated 1880. It has been professionally lined for stability and has some minor inpaints in the lower areas. Deshayes was primarily known for pastoral scenes but coastal and genre scenes have also turned up at leading auction houses such as Christie’s. He debuted at the Paris Salon in 1864 and won prizes in both Paris and New York. His works are represented in the Langres and Rouen Art Museums. He is listed in major art references. The painting is in very good condition with strong brush strokes, vibrant colors, and exceptional detail. Measures 29” x 36.5”unframed and 43” x 50”framed. See less
