Lane and … Read more Set of six American mahogany saber leg side chairs bearing the stencil of "Lane & Croome" for W.J. Lane and George Croome who worked in a partnership on Washington Street in Boston from 1835 to 1842Signed pieces by Lane and Croome are rare. Five chairs bear the stencil mark and one does not, and is slightly different from the other five. The chairs are in excellent condition with good color, flame mahogany back splats, and original slip in seats. The chairs were documented in 1995 in William Ketchum's "Marked American Furniture 1640-1940" p.202. The chairs have been in my private collection since 1993. They are 34.5"high. See less
