Touraine is one of the traditional provinces of France and an Appellation d' Origine Contrôlée — used to certify the geographical origins of wines, cheeses, and other agricultural products in France. Lavishly bound; including gilded edges, in-folio full shagreen, steel engravings, four in Chromolithography (reproduction by impression on a limestone) (all behind tissue) and a map. 610 pages. Antique items have been previously owned and loved, and will show some level of wear consistent with this prior use. There are age appropriate marks, scratches and some small areas of discoloration from almost 170 years of use. The front board is no longer attached to the spine, shown clearly in photo number eight. There is rubbing to the edges, spine, raised bands and points of corners. Throughout the bookblock, there is tanning, foxing, and scattered staining on some of the pages. One of the back pages has writing on it. All of these things are commensurate with age and and loving maintenance that add to the character of this incredible folio.
