The crown is adorned with two family crests sculpted from solid old-growth oak, representing the union of two prominent and powerful families. Along the structure are no less than 21 hangers indicating the family and guests were frequent visitors. A small mirror allowed those who entered to check their appearance. A pair of colonnades enclose the structures below to hold canes and umbrellas, with the original octagonal-shaped liners for catching water. Imagine the grandeur of the home and the lifestyle of those that could both require and afford such a luxurious appointment! In the spirit of the hunt which is indicated in the family crest with boars above, this piece could also serve double-duty as a gun rack.
