Klemens Großimlinghaus, a cycling legend from Krefeld, was a multiple German champion and runner-up in the world championship and took part in the Tour de France, among others. After finishing his career, he turned to painting. The Krefeld painter Rudolf Perpéet became his teacher, and over the next 20 years he produced many oil paintings, watercolors and drawings.
