Esther Williams was a well-known name in 1950-1960s Hollywood. As a teenager she set national records in the United States for her swimming, and she later starred in the film "Million Dollar Mermaid", which would become her nickname.

Slim Aarons photographed Esther Williams only a handful of times, reflecting her fame and popularity at that time.
