These incredible Oscar Heyman earrings contain pave set diamonds of approximately two carats. The platinum eight-point stars are irregular shapes with longer and shorter points along the star, a non-symmetrical variation resembling a burst of light. The diamonds are impeccable—with intense white sparkle so bright the diamonds seem to radiate. The sophistication of the platinum and pave is balanced against the playful, organic shape of the stars; the result reminds us of an elegant cartoon dynamite explosion.

Oscar Heyman & Bros. Jewelry is considered to be “the jeweler’s jeweler,” producing pieces for Cartier, Van Clef & Arpels, and Tiffany & Co. The brothers apprenticed at their uncle’s Fabergé workshop in Eastern Europe before immigrating to the United States in 1906. Oscar and Nathan opened their workshop in New York in 1912, quickly gaining a reputation for their fine Russian craftsmanship as well as their technical skills in platinum, a metal that had only recently begun being incorporated into jewelry. Today, the jewelry house is run by the third generation of Heyman family.

The earrings contain 78 natural round diamonds with an approximate weight of 2 carats. The diamonds are E-F in color and VVS in clarity. They range in size from 1 mm to 2.3 mm. The earrings are marked as irradiated platinum, and contain the HB (Heyman Brothers) maker’s mark and the serial # 105367. The earrings are 7/8” across. Combined, they weigh 11.19 grams.
