The … Read more A vibrant village scene is artfully captured in this light and bright oil on canvas by William A. Patty. The happy scene shows the barefoot locals going about their daily tasks while donkeys wait patiently with the carts for their owners to return. The buildings are done in pleasing pastel hues of blue, pink and peach, with soft white clouds drifting overhead. A calming vision of a world that moves at a slower pace. Signed on the lower right: "Wm A. Patty".

William Patty (1884 - 1960) was born in New Hartford, Connecticut, and by age 16, was earning a living as a painter. He studied at the National Academy of Design in New York and at the Acadamie Julian in Paris. In 1936, he moved to Southern California and settled for the remainder of his life in Laguna Beach. He is a well listed artist.

Dimensions are approximately 17" high x 22" wide.

Some of the edges of the wrap around the canvas have raised up in areas & are uneven. The area is shown clearly in photo #6.
