(1935; SC) Visionary artist William Thomas Thompson began painting in 1989 after receiving an apocalyptic vision from God at a worship service in Hawaii. While most of his paintings are based on the book of Revelations, we also have many of his gentler watercolor florals. Thompson suffers from Guillain-Barre system, which has partially crippled his hands. Thompson creates his art through what he refers to as a “rage” – not of anger, but of fervor and belief.
William Thomas Thompson is in the permanent collection of the American Visionary Art Museum, the Ashville Art Museum, and the South Carolina State Museum.
