This 1957 oil on canvas abstract in white, sienna brown, and blue is by Abstract Surrealist Abstract Surrealist San Francisco artist Michael di Cosola (1929-2010). Di Cosola studied at the Chicago Art Institute before moving to the Bay Area to study at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. He had a studio in North Beach during the height of the neighborhood’s art scene and exhibited at several Bay Area art galleries in the 1960s. Di Cosola is known for psychedelic, Surrealist portraiture and abstractions.
Signed, dated, and titled on reverse.
Framed in a wood lath frame with a chestnut finish and gold lip.
