MCM Opaque glass square column lamp with brass fittings/hardware. This piece is offered for sale for the first time coming from the New York estate of the original owners who owned two this being the larger one. Designed by the late Paul Mayen May 31, 1916 - November 3, 2000 for Habitat. Mr. Mayen was a Spanish born American industrial designer.
A former museum curator who now curates for an International auction company stated these lamps in this shape (square) are extremely rare. At the time there were very few produced due to the difficulty of forming the precise square lines in glass. It was found in working order however we had it professionally rewired for safety reasons since the electric cord was over sixty years old and a bit stiff. The photos do not show how beautifully reflective the glass is.
*Rotary switch cord is 89 inches long, plug 2 inches long. Light bulb not included in purchase.
