Zita Sudnika, Moonlight. 1990. Oil on cardboard, 68x55 cm
The painting is a captivating and moody depiction of a night lake landscape, with the thickets of reeds in the foreground drawing the viewer's eye into the depths of the composition. The reeds are depicted in shades of green, with their slender stems and delicate leaves swaying gently in the evening breeze. The water's edge is blurred and soft, creating a sense of mistiness and mystery. In the background, the deciduous forest looms large, its towering trees silhouetted against the dark sky. The trees are painted in shades of olive green and yellowish, because of the rays of bright moon in the clear sky.
The overall effect of the painting is one of quiet contemplation and introspection. The painting invites the viewer to step into its dreamlike world, to leave behind the stresses and worries of everyday life and simply immerse themselves in its beauty and tranquility.
