moreThis is a great vintage wood and leather chair built for during World War II. The chair is mainly wood with a leather seat and back rest piece that sits on four rolling black caster wheels. The base has a metal plaque that says "Property of Defense Plant Corporation, an instrument of the United States Government." along with all the identifying serial numbers. The Defense Plant Corporation was established, August 22, 1940, to finance and supervise construction and equipping of industrial facilities operated, for the most part, by private concerns sponsored by federal agencies administering defense and war programs.
This chair has seen some use and the leather is worn and the seams are coming apart in some places...the chair also no longer raises and lowers as the mechanism is wood and has worn down. This is such a great historical piece and surprisingly few are still around.
