Hess) is an American metal sculptor, gallery owner, and former Hollywood model maker who has been active in the art world since 1968. He is best known for his incredibly detailed, torch-welded mid-century and brutalist style mixed metal sculptures made from copper, brass, and bronze.

Before becoming widely recognized for his standalone gallery sculptures, Hess worked extensively in Southern California during the 1960s and 1970s as a professional model and mold maker for Walt Disney. His professional background in fine-scale commercial modeling heavily influenced the extreme, microscopic detail that defines his later fine art career.


The "Tree of Life" Motifs are Hess’ most recognizable and prominent wall sculptures depict expansive, highly detailed oak, bonsai, or weeping trees. See less
