Above the painting, a French inscription, which is a laudatory thanksgiving for the beauty of this world: "Be praised, my Lord, for us, sisters, the Moon and the stars that you have created in the sky, pure, precious and beautiful." The graphic belongs to the "Harvest" series depicting work and life in the countryside during the summer Harvest. It is the most muted and subdued, and also the darkest of all the woodcuts in the series.

The graphics are in the style typical of the Art Deco style, characterized by expressive contrasts, a penchant for sharp, geometric lines and shapes.

The technique used by the artist perfectly harmonizes with the art deco style. Longitudinal woodcut is one of the first graphic techniques used in Europe since the 14th century. The board on which the engraving is made is cut along the trunk, which allows for a limited range of thickness and line density. See less
