The four stackable chairs were designed by the French architect and furniture designer Charlotte Perriand (1903 - 1999) for the … Read more The four stackable chairs were designed by the French architect and furniture designer Charlotte Perriand (1903 - 1999) for the rooms of the "Les Arcs" ski resort in Saint-Maurice in the French Savoy. Charlotte Perriand worked on the development of the multi-part ski resort from 1967 - one of her most important works. Before that, she worked in the studio of Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret in Paris for over ten years from 1927. During this time, Perriand was involved in all of Le Corbusier's furniture and interior design projects. Charlotte Perriand designed the “Les Arcs” stacking chairs in the 1960s. Frame made of black painted tubular steel. Seat and back made of thick, dark brown leather, stitched and riveted. A professional saddlery in Zurich painstakingly refurbished the leather parts. Loose seams have been repaired. Three rivets were replaced. The leather on all chairs has been nourished and greased. All in all, the chairs are in perfect, stable condition, with a beautiful patina.
