A small but beautiful oil on board by French painter Marcel Cosson. This one is called Half time at the Opera and is signed at the bottom right.
The painting by itself is 10" wide by 8.25" tall. The frame is all gilt wood.

Cosson was a French artist who specialized like his muse, Degas, in depicting subjects from the theatre, the ballet and from the world of horse racing. He was also a painter of still life. He was a member of the Society of French Artists and was awarded an honorable mention in 1901 and a third class medal in 1911. He also exhibited at the Salon de la National and at the Tuileries.
