18/19th Century Russian icon of St. John (Angel of the Desert); shown holding a kind of salver, and in it — if we see it up close — is depicted the naked child Christ, lying down, symbolizing The Lamb of God of the Eucharist. He also holds a scroll.
The image of God the Father (“Lord Sabaoth) shown in the clouds at the top, who is guiding him through the wilderness. A variety of animals are depicted on the icon.
