Sculptural chandelier with a unique combination of reticello and pulegoso finish. The reticello bowl indicates the decade. It is achieved by stacking two filigree spiral bowls in opposite directions. Before the works of carlo scarpa and dino martens in the 1940s, reticello was made without bubbles in the center of each square of clear glass that resulted from the nesting. Simply because it was considered a flaw to see bubbles. In the following decade, the overlap was carried out on the piera, since the bubble trapped by the reeds was considered an advantage. The 14 leaves have a striped transparent central stem and the feathers are made in pulegoso. My friend sergio rossi, master of murano, when he saw the photo said "the times when pulegoso was produced in the crucible". The complete pulegoso lot was made by barovier for the lighting and by venini or seguso for the accessories. The pulegoso finish, from puleghe (chips, the chemical powder that is added to create an infinite number of bubbles within the glass mass) is a signature of the barovier chandelier. Reticello has white filigree canes and creates a wonderful interplay with the three bulbs inside the bowl. The crown of pulegoso leaves collects the light to surround the masterpiece of the bowl. A masterpiece that highlights a very special place with a historic chandelier. The hardware shows typical pre-wwii construction, with a wooden arm support (after wwii it is metal) and carries three regular light bulbs (for the us the sockets will be changed). This is an incredible unique chandelier that can be considered a milestone in the history of glass making. Today only a few masters can create a bubble-free reticello bowl of this size. The bowl measures 38cm in diameter.
