Hessam Abrishami (Persian: حسام ابریشمی) works in multiple media and currently lives, paints and exhibits in Miami, Florida. He has previously lived, painted and exhibited in Los Angeles (California), Perugia (Italy), and Shiraz (Iran).
Born in Iran, Abrishami grew up in a middle-class family and began painting at the age of fifteen. He first studied art in Shiraz, and subsequently received his Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from Namazi Institution of Arts. He then continued his studies in Italy at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Perugia, where he received his master's degree. In 1984, he emigrated to the United States.
Over the course of a long career, Abrishami has worked primarily in acrylic, oil and bronze, creating semi-abstracted figural works that involve persistent themes of love, romanticism and self-realization. The winner of numerous prizes, medals and juried awards, he has exhibited with success in more than 30 countries internationally, including throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas.
This painting is accompanied by a signed first edition copy of 'Expression of Love: The Paintings of Hessam, A Retrospective' by W. Joseph Metcalf (Studio Fine Art, 2005)
