On the Design:

A gold open field underscores a play of ice and navy blue with cream white hues, prevalent in both the medallion and the many floral patterns in the field spandrels and three intricate borders alike. Admirers of the craft will note a particular emphasis on lotus and cloudband motifs in this rug’s design—long-time celebrated symbols of Ningxia, Peking, and several other period pieces like those that inspired this piece. Altogether it’s a piece as deeply personal in its subtext as it is in the details and beauties that distinguish it in our craft—an homage to a rich history of craft and culture.
