Hand-knotted in wool circa 1920-1930, this 13×17 oversized rug is a rare antique Persian rug of Tabriz provenance.
On the Design:
The rug features a navy blue field and light gold borders underscoring floral patterns in particularly bright hues—light pink and salmon red. Admirers of the craft will note this rug’s fine execution of the Herati pattern or “fish” pattern as it’s called for the gracefully curved floral patterns much like fish swimming in the water. Herati rugs like these were often meant to signify the skill of a weaver in achieving finely drawn patterns in dense repeats like this.
Condition:
This antique Persian Tabriz rug boasts good condition for its age and lineage.
