"Wing of a Mallard" was created after finding a beautiful bird which had just been hit along the highway. Drawing the wings was a way to preserve and pay tribute to this magnificent wildlife species. After the drawing was completed I discovered that Albrecht Durer was also fascinated by nature so I am happy to continue this tradition. He said, "Nature holds the beautiful, for the artist who has the insight to extract it. Thus, beauty lies even in humble, perhaps ugly things, and the ideal, which bypasses or improves on nature, may not be truly beautiful in the end."

This was juried into and shown at the Northwind Arts Center show, "Fins, Fur and Feathers", Port Townsend, WA.
The paper size is 11" x 22" on Stonehenge natural paper with 2 deckled edges. On a gorgeous 100% cotton, acid free paper, this drawing is float mounted on 12" x 24" warm grey archival board.
