Closely related to the motif of ancient origin formed by a tree on which two birds land, it seems that the zil-i-sultan was invented in Persia, at the end of the 19th century, by a dignitary of the court of the Qajar dynasty, its name meaning, in fact, “shadow of the sultan”. The colors based on natural dyes are shimmering on an ivory background. This is a superb example of type, with pure soft wool, the red floor border is of an unusual design and frames the rug well. Note all the little birds in the field pattern surrounding the vases of flowers. Due to their quality and aesthetic value, abedeh rugs are often considered works of art and are highly sought after by collectors and rug enthusiasts around the world. They represent an important part of Iran's cultural heritage and are a symbol of traditional craftsmanship and know-how of the Abedeh region. A true masterpiece of Persian craftsmanship, these rugs are appreciated for their durability and resistance to wear. Used as floor rugs to bring a warm and colorful touch to classic and contemporary interiors, they can also be used as wall decoration. Sought after by collectors, it is a true cultural heritage of Iranian craftsmanship and a safe investment. See less
