A once iconic symbol of eternal life often used in rituals and commemorations, this piece’s fig variation of the motif is emboldened in tangerine red against the black ram’s horn medallion (representing strength and fertility), complemented by symbolic yellow birds of prosperity matching the shimmering floral background of the field. Offset by red and lavender blue floral spandrels, the black colorways are repeated in the middle border with a finely woven floral scroll between mirrored geometric inner and guard borders framing and wrapping the ornate portrait.
