Have woven in wool originating from Persia between 1950-1960, this vintage mid-century Verneh Kilim features an uncommon variety of unique elements in colorway, geometric pattern, and texture. The accenting off-white, blue, orange, and black colorway hues have such an easy, subtly arresting sense of movement, complemented by the repetition and high-low play of the textural weave in the geometry in such an eccentric fashion. This style likewise represents one of the most unique portrayals of the classic ram’s horn motif, widely believed to symbolize themes of strength, protection, power, heroism, and even masculinity and fertility among its tribal contexts, further lending to the conversational, collectible nature of this traditional rug.
Additionally:
The repeating motif also bears a strong resemblance to a lesser-known variant of the Ying-Yang motif, known in this context to represent love and unison in a relationship.
