The basket is light yellow and has a tight fitting lid with a little knob on it. It's decorated with raffia in geometric designs, dyed grayish purple, raspberry red, green, and brown. The basket is tightly woven and in excellent condition. It dates to the 1980s or 1990s and I believe it's from Africa, though it could be South American. less
