Offering a vintage Aldo Tura brown goatskin high lacquered box with a hand painted antique Bruyere smoking pipe on the lid, circa 1950s-1960s. This magnificent box is made of wood with a beautiful goatskin high gloss lacquered veneer. The hand painted lid depicts an antique Bruyere or Briarwood smoking pipe. It is signed "C" to the right of the tassel, indicating the first initial of the artist. Although unsigned this box is guaranteed to be authentic Aldo Tura from the period. These goatskin luxury items during the era were sometimes called "parchment".
This box can be used as Humidor Box if so desired. This box can be used for loose tobacco or cigars. The center wood portion is removable and can be adjusted to any cigar size up to 8.5 inches horizontally.
GOOD CONDITION. The bottom of the box has a small chip and some minor scratching and some minor crackling to the lacquer. The goatskin is in near perfect condition on all sides and has a small blemish in the lacquer on the top lid below the tassel (This is mentioned only for thoroughness and can be seen in the 5th photo and considering this piece is about 60 years old, it represents magnificently despite its minor flaws).
A rare and one-of-kind box that is designed by the renowned Aldo Tura; One of the best Italian Mid 20th Century Modern designers.......for the discerning collector.

ALDO TURA:
Aldo Tura was an Italian furniture designer best known for his mid-century tables and lamps. Combining his interest in Art Deco and Art Nouveau with low-slung minimalist design of the 1940s and 50s, he often utilized unusual materials like parchment, eggshell, and goatskin, frequently employing wheels and casters in his designs. Born in 1909, Tura began manufacturing his signature furniture in the 1930s, focusing on limited production of handcrafted designs produced within the confines of traditional craftsmanship. Turo died 1963 and has earned the moniker "the master of parchment" for his use of the material.
