Hand-knotted in wool and originating from Turkey circa 1950-1960, this 9x13 vintage Ersari rug is from the same provenance, a sub-tribe of the Turkmen people, often known for their more distinct tribal rug designs.
On the Design:
Connoisseurs will appreciate this design which is an exemplar of the beauties that distinguish Ersari rugs and their tribal rug designs. Colors have aged particularly beautifully, as one can see in the brightest hues one seldom sees so crisp and lively for even a vintage rug of this period—a collectible and rich work of folk art with a more dense repeat than many of its provenance enjoy as well. Keen eyes for detail may admire this regal colorway of bright pink and beige/brown underscore a play of medallion and all over style patterns, both geometric and floral. Admirers of the craft will note the medallions with ram’s horn motifs are often called dyrnak—a work of particularly sharp drawing, yet seldom seen in this more modern, whimsical palette.
Condition:
This vintage Ersari rug further enjoys good condition for its age and origin.
