Vintage Manilla Teapot by Svend Aage Jensen for Søholm Bornholm, Denmark, 1960s
A handmade glazed ceramic teapot with details in brass on the handle. The handle is made of rattan.
This teapot is part of the famous Manilla series. Signed at the bottom. Nr 3382.
Svend Aage Jensen (1918 - 1980 ) worked at Søholm from 1944 - 1980. Aged 14 he started out as pottery apprentice, and over the years he developed his skills at the potters wheel and in glazing.
He used the faience technique creating the Manilla series and developed the glaze for several of SØHOLMs products.
Søholm founded in 1835 by Edvard Christian Sonne and Herman Sonne Wolffsen. Søholm was one of the many ceramic Studio pottery on Bornholm, the factory closed in 1996. The height of 14 cm is from the bottom up to the lid.
