Broadly purple and teal, the abstract painting depicts a montage of frenetic fuchsia, yellow, green, and blue. A white border surrounds the central image. Robert Berkshire, an Abstract Expressionist painter, was a scholarship student at Herron School of Art in Indianapolis where he later became an art professor. He studied in Italy on a Fulbright Fellowship and graduated with his master's degree in Fine Arts from Florida State University in 1958. Berkshire had a profound impact on the Indiana art community and is one of Indianapolis' most well-known painters. The Robert B. Berkshire Gallery at Herron School of Art and Design was named in his honor. See less
