Country French center table or console carved and painted in pale sage green with. rouge marble top and gilt wood accents, c. 1940s.
A stunning table with a serpentine marble top having variations of green and white set upon a broad foliate scrolled frame finished on all sides with a conforming gilded frieze with openwork and scrolling acanthus leaves set on cabriole legs joined by a cross stretcher ending in gilt leaf scrolled feet. The lightly distressed, soft green and gilded accents complement each other beautifully.
A versatile table suitable to float in the middle of a room and will work nicely in a variety of settings. This is an expertly crafted table reminiscent of 18th century fine French furniture with lots of old world charm and rustic European elegance. The table is sound and sturdy and in very good vintage condition.
