In this painting, a pathway leads into a garden environment bursting with early spring colors. The viewer is met with the lively pinks in cherry trees and the warm sunshine of brilliant yellow forsythias. In the foreground a bed of red and pink azaleas add to the rich texture and energy found in the emergence of spring.

It's along this curved pathway that the viewer might engage in the scents, sensations and dreams walking in nature can inspire. It's this experience that I find I get to re-visit in painting the landscape of places near and dear to my soul.

In creating the painting I like to simplify the shapes and emphasize the silhouettes of nature. Filling them with slightly exaggerated colors that incorporate brushwork as well as use of flat passes of color creates an interesting exchange of energy.

I painted this on a gallery wrapped canvas in oils. The artwork is a signed original that comes ready to hang "as is" it may also be framed. See less
