The rug town of Serab is located on the edge of the Heriz district and specializes in runners with camel tone fields and borders. This unusual example has an all wool construction with symmetric knots. The warm camel-tan field displays 9 complete panels, each containing a cross motif and serrated leaves. These elements appear also in Kazak and Karabagh Caucasian rugs. Along the sides are jaunty botehs, birds, dogs, and human figures, possibly the weavers.
The palette includes attractive shades of royal blue, ivory, green, medium blue, straw, and brown-black. All colours are of natural origin.
This runner is evenly low with clear colours. The plain camel tone outer border makes a very effective frame. This rug has been cleaned professionally.
