as a result of europe splitting into the west and east after the war, in 1953 ton was founded as a direct evolution of the thonet company and was labelling its products as ton despite still using thonet factories and workers, technologies as well as owning some of their original furniture patents rights.

the chairs date back to the so called czech brussel style of the late 50s and early 60s and you can clearly see a scandinavian and french influence on their design. The main design feature, apart from the combination of pastel blue, green and cream colour, are the large hexagon shaped backrests and their supporting frame. Both chairs have some striking patina that makes these chairs truly original and one off pieces.

these chairs were also produced with different finishes or colours, and were very popular and typical for the brussel style. After all the years since they were originally produced, they seem still contemporary and modern.

this pair is in original vintage condition. The chairs have some normal wear and both have patina on their surfaces gained from their use over the years. Both chairs are structurally fine without any damage to their construction. This piece has an attribution mark,
