She quickly became the toast of the town, recognized for her unique talent and unparalleled sense of color and bold pattern as well as her personal flamboyance and eccentricity. She was one of the "Great Lady Decorators" who helped invent the field of professional decorating and interior design in the early twentieth century. A-list decorators, celebrities and royalty were dedicated fans. True to her name, she designed a great many rose florals that survive today, although many such as Carlotta can only be rescued from collector’s carefully preserved archives. Oversize roses and hydrangea in deep reds, rose and pink with soft green foliage on an eggshell ground are framed in a gorgeous delicate pleated grosgrain ribbon trim in ivory.
