The waisted form upper flaired body with lavish open fret work decoration, a central ring turned plain socle, ending on a circular spreading base with similar decoration. The swing handle with similar decoration, secured at each end with a shell motif.

Mark of M & W within a shield surround for Mappin & Webb Silversmiths.

London Halmark for 1913.

Condition: Good allover condition, with no losses to decoration. There are three crisp clear Hallmarks visible, a real sign of quality.

Mappin & Webb was founded in 1775 when Jonathan Mappin opened a silver workshop in Sheffield, then as now a major centre of the English silver trade.
