Signed on base, 'Clyde Ball' (American, 1929-2017) and created 1975. Mounted on the artist's original granite base. (height, including base, 22 inches)
Born in Indiana, Clyde Ball first attended Utah State University and the Art Institute of Chicago before serving as an officer in the United States Army during the Korean War.
In 1964, after a near-fatal car accident, Ball decided to become a full-time artist. Over the course of a long career, he exhibited widely and with success and was the recipients of numerous prizes, medals and juried awards including, in 1966, from the Bonnewell Art Festival which allowed the artist and his wife to travel to Paris to further their art studies. Ball was a member of the Northern Indiana Arts Association and the Deer Path Art League and his work can be found in private and public collections including the permanent collections of the Utah State University, Indiana University, and the cities of Saugatuck (MI), Hammond (IN), and Springfield (IL). We are pleased to offer a complex and ambitious sculpture dating to circa 1975.
