the top is veneered in flame mahogany, book-matched so the dark figure spreads out from the centre like a pair of wings. Underneath there is a shaped, moulded apron and four long cabriole legs ending in small carved hoof feet.

the top turns on a pivot and opens out onto a round red baize playing surface edged with gold braid, held by brass hinges at the corners. When you turn the top, it also reveals a storage well inside the frame, big enough for cards, games or anything you'd rather keep out of sight.

closed, it works as a console table in a hallway or against a wall. Open, it's a proper table for cards, chess or a small dinner for two.

condition: professionally restored, with some wear still visible. The back edges of both leaves have scratches and small dents around the catches. The baize has a small hole and some light wear at the centre join, and the braid is slightly worn in places. There are a few tiny chips on one leg. All of this is shown in the photos.
