"The Sew 'n Vac" is a nostalgic 9" x 12" oil painting inspired by the charm and beauty of historic towns around New Jersey. This is a colorful and simplistic landscape painting that takes us to a time where life felt simpler and perhaps more uncluttered. The architecture and palette of colors add to the ambiance and character of the scene which is located in Bordentown, NJ.
The light captures a sense of subtle drama creating deep shadows in windows and the surrounding trees. The street is quiet but well lit by a blue sky over head that has signs of billowy clouds on this random early afternoon.
Inspiration for this painting came from a plein-air outing where I painted a residence just down the street from this location. I love historic towns and places that have a 1950's vibe to them. It was a quiet sunlit morning with only enough time for one painting so this one I painted from a few photos I took while there. Bordentown is full of wonderful vistas like this one that just take you back in time for a moment!

- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
