This is a stunning Original Mixed Media Painting on Paper by Listed California Artist, Hendrik Grise (1914-1982). Grise was a prolific artist who was part of many of the major art movements of the mid-20th Century. He studied at the Chicago Art Institute and the Dallas Museum School of Art before coming to Southern California in the late 1940s, where he consistently exhibited his work. He was friends with several artists from the New York School, including Mark Tobey who was close to Jackson Pollock. The influences of his time are clear in his bright, fluid works.

This piece is an excellent example of his work, incorporating many of the motifs and techniques for which he is known. Done mid-1970s, this luminous work is a standout. It is signed in the lower right in yellow. It has been set in a black mat against a black molding to give it a very crisp, modern look. A wonderful abstract expressionist work for the collector.

Provenance and Certification: We bought the bulk of Hendrick Grise's estate in 2015 and are beginning to market his works and introduce him more broadly to the public. The majority of the works in our collection have never been offered for sale or framed. Each piece comes with a full biography and Certificate of Authenticity.

Condition: Painting pristine. Frame may have very minor signs of wear/handling.
