Its straight back is crowned with a finely carved wreath decoration. The frame of the upholstered seat and back is decorated with carved details as well. The seat is ending on round tapered baluster legs. The settee belonged originally to a salon suite composed of two armchairs. The armchairs are sold separately. Price for the set $5,000.
The suite shows the typical features of the Louis XVI style. The settees of the Louis XVI period were characterized by elegance, lightness and simplicity of form.
