This 'King Sun' lighting object was created by Gae Aulenti for Kartell in 1967. The lamp was specially designed for the Olivetti showroom in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Aulenti herself designed the shop reminiscent of a 'piazza' dominated by curved staircases, with lamps displayed on different levels together with typewriters. The structure has a red-orange base inserted with semi-circular sheets of transparent acrylic. The fins surround the bulb in the centre. Good condition, shows various opacities on the acrylic glass, fully functional. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
