Here we have an antique French gilt bronze oval wall plaque. Most likely salvaged from a wedding armoire and absolutely gorgeous! Stunning high relief detail of French peasants. The man is on one knee with a garland of flowers for his love. There are doves, an urn of flowers, trees with foliage and a cherub. Incredible detail and excellent condition with no breaks nor repairs.
However there are some casting pinholes (only visible from the backside) which are very common to highly detailed cast bronze. These aren't noticeable from the front, but please examine photos carefully. There's also a few small specks of white paint.
Lovely warm patina. I've taken pics outside so you can see some of the gilt wash is worn off. I haven't been able to find a maker's mark. There are two holes for mounting.
Nice large size, so rare and beautiful. This would make a fabulous wedding gift... Thanks for looking!!! Box10
