Crafted from a warm blend of wood and rattan, this mid 20th century rocking horse transcends mere toy status and is now more suited as a collectible item or decorative treasure for the discerning nursery or playroom. While we did not find any maker's marks on this piece, its design uses clean lines and natural materials, clearly drawing inspiration from the minimalist aesthetic of Italian architect Franco Albini.
In areas, the wood appears to be bamboo (see last photo). However, we are not sure of the exact type of wood used for this piece.
We estimate this piece to have been made in the mid 20th century or earlier.
Approximate Measurements:
35 3/8" across bottom rocker, measured at side from front end to back end
14.5" wide, measured across bottom rockers
30" tall, measured to tip of head
The seat is raised at the center and is supported at the middle by a bar. The seat height above this bar is 13.25"
The seat is 12" from front to back. The width across the seat is 9", measured at the seat's underside. However, with the seat raised at the middle, there is a seat surface of about 6" protruding downward on each side.
