JAMES KING BONNAR (American, 1885 - 1961)
"James King Bonnar, a Newtonville, Massachusetts artist, was born in North Adams, Massachusetts on 12 May 1885. He was a graduate of the Massachusetts School of Art and studied under Joseph Decamp, Ernest L. Major and others. Exhibited: Rockport Art Association, 1940 - 1946; North Shore Art Association, 1935 - 1946. Bonnar was the painter of the “New England Scene” and murals in private homes and institutions; he is represented in many private collections in the United States and Canada.
He worked out of his studio in Newtonville, Massachusetts, and spent his summers on Cape Ann."
