The tall, sculptural bird is beautifully modeled with a gracefully curved neck, elongated beak and applied glass details. Its dramatic form and vivid coloration make it particularly appealing displayed on a mantel, console or bookshelf.

Surviving JICO catalogs from the period document an extensive assortment of hand-blown Venetian glass animals and birds. JICO sourced its glass from multiple Murano glassworks, and the individual furnace responsible for this example has not yet been identified.

This heron was acquired together with a coordinating JICO-attributed Murano glass duck, which is also available separately. The two make a particularly striking complementary pair when displayed together.
